Supporting Domestic Labour in BC’s
Tree Fruit & Wine Grape Industry
Who are we?
BC Fruit Works is a collaboration between the BC Cherry Association, BC Fruit Growers’ Association, BC Grapegrowers’ Association, and the BC Ministry of Agriculture and Food.
The program is designed to support domestic workers and producers by improving access to information and resources. By raising awareness and fostering connections, it aims to strengthen BC’s local workforce and the long-term sustainability of the tree fruit and wine grape sectors.

Opportunities
Participating employers include cherry and apple orchards, vineyards, and fruit-packing houses. Seasonal work opportunities vary by the type of fruit and harvest periods, as shown below. Seasonal work may start and/or end earlier or later, depending on weather conditions.

Never done this type of
work before? No worries!
You’ll receive on-site training and quickly learn a thing or two from the more experienced farm workers on the team!
Where are the orchards
and vineyards located?
The orchards and vineyards are located in the BC Interior, which includes the Okanagan and Similkameen Valleys as well as the Creston Valley.
More specifically, they are located in Vernon, Lake Country, Kelowna, West Kelowna, Peachland, Summerland, Penticton, Naramata, Okanagan Falls, Oliver, Osoyoos, Keremeos, and Creston.

When does the
season start?
You can use the following chart as a guideline for seasonal work at participating orchards and vineyards. However, work may start and/or end earlier or later, depending on weather conditions.
Seasonal workers can choose gigs throughout the season, based on their availability to work and opportunities posted by the growers.

Perhaps you only want to work for a few weeks, and then take some time to travel with the money you’ve earned. Or maybe you want to work all summer long, moving from cherry orchards to vineyards to apple orchards, learning new skills, meeting new people, and developing valuable work experience.
